“Making Niigata Beautiful with Green Tea.”

activity reports Niigata

“Sado Gold and Silver Mine” was a major site for gold and silver mining, especially during the Edo to Meiji periods, and holds a significant place in Japan’s industrial and cultural history. In 2024, it was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. With this recognition, there are concerns that increased tourism may lead to damage to the ruins, environmental degradation, and deterioration of the scenic landscape.

Through this event, we participated in grass cutting and cleanup activities to protect this important historical site, which Niigata Prefecture is proud of, and to carry out conservation efforts to preserve the beautiful heritage island. We shared the importance of protecting our World Heritage sites for future generations.
