“Making Okinawa Beautiful with Green Tea.”

In the mangrove forest of Yohena Tidal Flat on Yagaji Island, located in the northern part of Okinawa Prefecture’s Nago City, the spread of the invasive plant Hirugi-damashi has been hindering the growth of native plants and raising concerns about its negative impact on the tidal flat ecosystem.

This time, we organized a removal activity for Hirugi-damashi at Yohena Tidal Flat, with the participation of the general public, as part of an effort to preserve the ecosystem of Yagaji Island’s mangrove forests, which are surrounded by abundant natural landscapes including sugarcane fields.
